Marc Pickett I

A Brother and a Friend

(or something)

I have known Marc all of my life, as he is a little over five years older than me. He is the second child of Jo Ann and Craig Pickett (I’m the third), and a brilliant if not overly eccentric bloke. Marc has often served as a source of frustration and inspiration for me, as all older brothers will. A PhD student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (USA) in the field of Computer Science, specializing in Artificial Intelligence, Marc is obsessed with intelligence and all things cognitive. He is the bravest and certainly one of the smartest people I know of. His love for ideas and thought is the only love to exceed my own in that capacity. Marc will try anything, and lacks specialized taste in almost all matters (certainly with food anyway). He, like me, is willing to pick up and travel anywhere in the world, alone, on a moment’s notice. Marc loves creating things, especially things of a mentally stimulating nature, and revels in the creations of others so long as they too are mentally stimulating. In my estimation, Marc is an alternate version of me, but perhaps only smarter and braver, and he is a demonstration of what I could have become had I gone his course.

He is quite gregarious, but tends to attract the smartest people in his areas, and is willing and friendly where anyone is concerned. Marc often lacks commonsense, or at least laughs in the face of it, as his will determines his course in spite of caution. He is perhaps one of the most inquisitive people, and he will make all efforts to learn as much as possible about anything presented him. Because he is so brilliant, he often intimidates the more meek of mind from his company, but accepts them all the same. A very generous soul, Marc will help anyone he cares about as much as possible, but often on his terms. Marc does have a particular way of seeing the world that may be described as ‘black and white’ and when things don’t fit in these categories, he is a little skeptical of them. Marc will always strive to make his life as good as possible as well as those lives around him. To know him is an honor anyone should be happy to receive, as he is in every sense unique and a credit to humanity.

Check out some pictures of him, as well as his website or myspace... but to be honest there's not much there.
