Kevin is one of my oldest and best friends who has been with me through some of the most outstanding trials and some of the greatest triumphs of my life. If I had to use one word to describe Kevin it would probably be loyal, though he is a much more diverse person than that (as are all people I suppose). Kevin would do anything for someone he loves and he loves a lot, in spite of his best efforts. I have known him quite well since early 1999 and in that time, I have watched him build his character from a timid boy struggling through some of life's most common (and less common) problems, to a man of great confidence and ability. He has done a lot with his life and to describe it all here would take far too much effort, suffice it to say that he has lived in: California, Kansas, Colorado, Georgia, Washington DC and Virginia by the time he was 22, watched his mother die of cancer when he was 14, and been subject to loads of responsibilities which I shouldn't even want to imagine during a good deal of his life. I admire all these things in Kevin very much, suffering through so much life experience so early in life, I believe would be quite difficult. One thing that truly added to his vast wealth of experience was his service to the United States Army: he was in the infantry as an Old Guard soldier meaning that he served in Washington DC doing ceremonies and things of that nature. He made it to the rank of sergeant and is quite proud of his service. One thing that stands out about Kevin is his patriotism and unceasing devotion to things he loves generally. This can be a little overwhelming at times because he will not be a part of conversation he believes will be opposed to things he really loves, especially America.
That said, Kevin is a very open minded and accepting individual, but his demeanor often makes people believe the contrary, which frustrates him to no end.
He can be quite charming, especially to women, which occassionally gets him into trouble. But, as much trouble as Kevin gets into he always survives stronger
if not more bitter than what he started as. To first meet him, Kevin seems very confident and masculine almost macho, but as one gets to know him they see how
loving and caring he really is. I believe frankly this is part of how his charm works so well. He is constantly trying to improve himself and wants to learn from
his mistakes, which are sometimes too painful to bear, though he always gets through it. Kevin can be arrogant and occassionally close-minded, but whenever this
happens, he is usually quite quick to recognize this and compensate for it. One final thing about Kevin, that I would like to leave as my impression of him is:
he has a great deal of wisdom (I believe simply from his wealth of life experience, if nothing else), and is always a wonderful person to consult on many of life's
harder questions. He is a great friend and confidant and anyone fortunate enough to know him and have the opportunity to befriend him ought to.
